Manage your aches & pains with LED light therapy

It’s winter, it’s cold outside, and as much as our customers love our cryo-chamber, we understand it may not be the first thing you would choose for your pain management at this time of year!

Luckily, here at Cryozone Health Shrewsbury, we also have other sophisticated treatments to relieve and manage your aches and pains, one of which is low-level light therapy.

Completely pain-free and non-invasive, LED treatment requires no recovery time and can be used by anybody. Originally researched and developed by NASA, low-level light therapy is the application of light energy to the body to obtain therapeutic benefits. The treatment comes in the form of a light emitting diode (LED) device, which is placed over the area to be treated, while you sit or lie back and relax in comfort.

LED therapy is scientifically proven to relieve arthritic pain, muscle and joint pain and stiffness, inflammation and muscle spasms, providing compromised cells with the energy to regain and restore vitality naturally.

Its powerful, deeply penetrating wavelengths are absorbed by photoacceptors in the mitochondria of our cells. This process increases the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) — the fuel that drives all cells. The boost of cellular energy results in a cascade of metabolic events leading to an increase in micro-circulation, tissue repair, and therefore a decrease in inflammation and pain.

The range of beneficial applications across medical fields is wide, with effective use in the treatment of skin, muscle, joint and pain conditions. Here are just a couple of ways that our clients use this therapy:

Post- surgery/ injury recovery

Sports therapist Gregg Jones used our LED therapy to significantly improve range of motion after undergoing a knee realignment and meniscus repair operation. The low level light therapy has been proven to promote wound healing and tissue growth after surgery or injury by delivering light deep into tissues of the body.

Back Pain

Back pain can significantly affect somebody’s daily life activities, as well as causing discomfort even when inactive. The lower back is one of the most used joints in the human body and there can be multiple causes of back pain including injury, disease, incorrect posture or overuse. Studies have shown that low level light therapy is effective in reducing chronic lower back pain, with no adverse effects. One study concluded that the therapy was easy to use, safe and effective, and reduced chronic back pain by 50% over six weeks.

Studies have also shown that the therapy has been effective in relieving pain for arthritis of the knee, increased wound healing, blood flow, and endorphin levels.

Debbie used our LED therapy for back and shoulder muscle pain. she said “The 30 minute treatment was very relaxing and she felt a definite improvement after just one treatment.
